A staff meeting alone is a pet peeve. We are all adults. Why must your phone ring during the staff meeting? TURN YOUR PHONE OFF!!! The killer is when they return from taking their phone call and say, “What did I miss”? R U Serious!!!! You missed A LOT because you were in the hallway talking to your hairdresser. STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #55: People who block the box.
I shall begin with a confession. I do not have a criminal record, but I have dealt with my fair share of traffic court violations. My mother even taught me how to drive at the age of 14 so I consider myself very experienced in this area. When driving not only should you obey the written rules, but you also need to obey the “respect rules” on the road. Respect rule #1: DO NOT BLOCK THE BOX!!! As adults we all should not need a sign to tell everyone to not block the box. FYI- The box is that middle area in an intersection. Blocking the box does nothing, but delay traffic. More people go on the red light instead of the green light. It also starts a pattern of everyone blocking the block, because they do not want to miss the light. All this causes is road rage, and it adds to the travel time. Please, STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #54: People who wear powder around their neck.
I am finding adults mainly commit this crime. I do recall as a child taking a bath and having powder around my neck to keep cool during the summer, but I never left the house. Please understand it is OK to use powder, but it should not be noticeable. You should not be in the streets looking like you got in a fight with cocaine and lost. Yes, we understand it is hot outside, but you cannot walk out the house with powder around your neck. Please, STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #51: Uninvited Visitors!
I really do not understand why people show up to someone’s house unexpected and uninvited. I do know the people who tend to do this have no life, poor social skills and little to no friends. Call me or text me first before you come to my house. Give me time to work up a lie (forgive me Lord), so I can explain why now is not a good time to visit. When I am home, I am in my bag on super relax mode. If I wanted to see you, I would have visited, and if I wanted to talk, I would have called you on the telephone.
Why is it that uninvited visitors show up saying, “We thought you wanted company”. Did I say I wanted company? NO! That is just a dumb statement to justify your unexpected visit. When they come in your house they are always hungry, thirsty, or they always walk around the house. When my doorbell rings, I don’t come to the door, but I look out the window. I don’t do well with uninvited visitors and I do not have a problem with screaming from the window, “STOP IT! UGH”!

Pet Peeve #50: People who stink!
Celebrate Good Times Come on!!!!!!! Pet Peeve #50 is here!!! We have come a long way since Pet Peeve #1; therefore, I introduce Pet Peeve #50: People who stink!
Before writing this pet peeve, I had to check to see if I had discussed this topic with everyone. To my surprise I was shocked that I never discussed this matter. People who stink should have made the top ten list of pet peeves. Please understand I am aware that certain people have certain problems (sick, mental illness, homelessness, drug addictions and etc.) and their upkeep is affected. This pet peeve is not about those folks, but normal people who refuse to wash. I just do not understand how people can have foul body odor (BO). All of my friends smell good, so I do not know their thoughts. Someone needs to write a book called, “The Mind of Someone Who Smells”. Do you just not wash for a few days? Do you get wet, but not scrub? Do you only wash your arms and legs and neglect the vital body parts? I am having a hard time trying to understand why an able adult smells. Do you not smell yourself? What is going on? No matter what age you are, it is not kool to smell. Who said it was OK to wash once a month? Who made up that rule? Huh? SPEAK TO ME!!! Funk should not be your best friend. SAY NO TO FUNK! That is my new campaign! 1, 2, 3…… SAY NO TO FUNK! Here I go………….O to the M to the G!!!! Soap is so cheap!! How do you have a house with running water and you still come out the house rockin. That is just trifling on all levels! NO EXCUSES! Wash your funky butt and STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #49: People who wear tight clothing.
Before writing this pet peeve, I had to do some research because I had a feeling I wrote on this topic before. Yes, Pet Peeve #18 is “People who gain weight and wear tight clothing”, but I recently realized I have a problem with people who wear tight clothing in general. Is it too hard to find clothes that fit? Must you honestly force fabric to tear so you can wear something that is not even your size? Your buttons and zippers should not be on suicide watch! Do the fabric and buttons and zippers on your clothing some justice and find some clothes that fit. Denial will get you nowhere. Smh STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #45: Security Guards who sleep on the job.
O to the M to the G!!!!! I cringe whenever I see a sleeping security guard, and I immediately think, “I don’t feel safe”! I do not expect nor trust a security guard to perform the duties of a police officer; however, I do expect you to monitor your assigned territory. You cannot do that if you are sleep. In my Laurence Fishburne’s voice from School Daze “WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE UUUUUUUUUUUUPPPPPPPPP”!!!!!!!!! Every week at work we have a staff meeting and I always discuss our security measures. We have two security guards for two buildings. One security guard is always into her book and barely lifts her head while the other one is sleep. The crazy thing about the sleeping security guard is that he sleeps at the beginning of his shift. Are you serious? Dude, you just got here. Why are you knocked out when you have been on the clock for 10 minutes? I don’t feel safe at work!!! I need you guys to support this blog, so I can quit and go somewhere safe. If you find a sleeping security guard, take a picture and send it to their boss. We are taking a stand against sleeping security guards worldwide. After you take your picture get in their face and yell “STOP IT! UGH”!

Pet Peeve #43: People who do not park between the lines.
O to the M to the G!!!!!!!!!!!!! Parking outside of the given lines is just selfish! When people do not park between the lines it just messes up everything. Yes, your car is parked. Good job. However, no one can park next to you, or they have to risk their life trying to get out of their car. How disrespectful!!!!!!!! When I see a car parked next to me outside of the given lines it just means, “Mess my car up as needed”. Are you REALLY serious?!?! You cannot park next to someone and give them 3 inches to get out of the driver’s side. You also cannot also them to be kool with it and climb out of the passenger side door. Just writing about this is getting me all flustered and what not. Ugh! I am a peaceful person, and we at The Chronicles of Boston promote nonviolence, but if someone does not park between the lines and gives you no room to get out, do what you got to do. Handle your business! If you see them say, STOP IT! UGH! And then add a drop kick.

Pet Peeve #42: Aretha Franklin’s stylist and a few other people.
Aretha Franklin is an extraordinarily popular and profoundly accomplished R&B singer in the United States . Her music career has lasted for decades, and she is honorably noted as the “Queen of Soul”. Aretha Franklin has recently taken time off because of an illness; therefore the Grammy Awards honored her during the opening act. During the tribute, they showed footage of the Queen of Soul in action on the stage, and to be honest, I felt as thought I was watching one wrong outfit after another. It just got worst as the years progressed. Aretha Franklin can sing, but her choice of outfits has been questioned in the last few years. Who will ever forget the hat she wore at President Obama’s inauguration? NO ONE! To be honest, I blamed Aretha Franklin for these horrible outfits, but I have realized someone else has to be behind the madness.
1) I blame everyone who saw her get dress before she left the house. No one is going to say anything, huh?
2) I also blame her stylist. Who got this apparatus? Since when did strapless and spaghetti strap dresses work for Aretha Franklin, huh? ANSWER ME!
I am convinced that Michelle Obama will wear a sleeveless dress in a snow storm, but it is OK. Why? Because her arms are great! No disrespect, but Aretha Franklin can not have her arms out like Michelle Obama. Again, I ask, who keeps buying the strapless and spaghetti strap dresses. ANSWER ME! If I talk about the strapless and spaghetti strap dresses with the gigantic breast hanging out looking like they are trying to leave Aretha Franklin’s chest, we will have another pet peeve. So to everyone watching the Queen of Soul getting dressed, STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #41: People whose pants are too high.
This pet peeve came to me today while waiting for the elevator. I happen to look down and I saw a good 5 inches between this lady’s shoe and the end of her pants. My first thought, “Who does this stuff these days”! It was horrible. Really though? Five inches of green socks. Was that really needed? If this lady is poor or those were her only socks, she could have just maybe pulled her pants down. I just kept looking down thinking again, “WTDuck, please do not wear your little sister’s pants to work ever again”! People all over the world! Please do not have that much space between your pants and shoes. As people on this planet we call earth, we must encourage everyone to STOP IT! UGH!Monday, February 7, 2011
Pet Peeve #40: Dirty Finger Nails!
OMG! Dirty finger nails are not only a distraction, but they genuinely make me wonder about a person. I understand if you do dirty work or have one of those jobs that appear on Dirty Jobs; however, that is not always the case with most people. An auto mechanic would have the worst hands, but even they use gloves. I seriously want people to stop walking around as if they have been playing in mud all day. You are grown! Personal hygiene is extremely vital to me; therefore, I keep my nails short to prevent dirty nails. Please keep your nails clean and STOP living foul. STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #36: When single females (keyword “single”) announce they are “engaged”, but do not have a ring.
This has been an issue with me for some time and was posted on facebook over a year ago (before I got engaged). I always had a problem with females who are hype to get married, and for some reason, it seems like the level of “hypeness” has increased recently. It drives me crazy! Since when did being in a relationship with someone for a long time, living with your mate or having a baby by someone equals being engaged. If you complete college, your degree or transcript provides validation. If you drive a car, a driver’s license can decide if you are or are not riding dirty. If you are married, your marriage license is proof. If you are engaged your RING proves it! Simple. No rocket science here readers. People use the word “engaged” like they say “boyfriend” or “girlfriend”. Am I tripping or do you not need a ring with someone asking you a question? Is that played out? Is that old fashion? STOP LYING! He is your boyfriend, or she is your girlfriend. Ladies, if he wants to marry you, you will receive a ring with a question. Until then, STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #27: When people get gastric bypass surgery, keep it a secret and ask you if they lost weight.
Gastric bypass is a surgery that makes the stomach smaller and allows food to bypass part of the small intestine (webmd.com). This is typically an option for people who are overweight. A small stomach means less food a person can eat resulting in weight loss and in most cases, dramatic weight loss. Even with the great benefits, a person can die from this procedure, so candidates are scanned carefully.
I have family members and friends who had gastric bypass, so I have no problem with this procedure. For various reasons, a few have decided to keep it a secret, which is still not a problem. However, you can not have rapid considerable weight loss, and expect no one to notice. Since it is becoming quite popular, everyone will pretty much figure out you had gastric bypass.
1) Dropping 50 pounds in one month is extremely noticeable.
2) You took an unexplainable leave of absence, and you shockingly return 6 sizes smaller.
3) STOP asking people if you lost weight as if you don’t know you lost 50 pounds.
I mean………..it is just downright annoying. We know you lost weight and had gastric bypass surgery, but out of respect, no one will mention it so please, STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #26: Dumb people who think they are smart.
People are people no matter of their status, income, location and etc. We all come from the same stuff. However, there is something about a dumb person who thinks they are smart that allows me to believe they come from another place. Dumb in this case is not lack of knowledge or doing stupid things. These types of dumb people are dumb because they think they are smart. I don’t ever get it. They say and do the craziest things, and when you do not get it, you are now the dumb person. For some reason, they have the nerve to look down on other people as if they are stupid. Really though? You just created some foolishness, and now I am slow because it makes no sense? WHATEVER! Smart people never use their knowledge to look down on others. If they do, they are not smart. Dumb people who think they are smart, STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #25: People whose breath smells so bad you can smell it while their mouth is closed.
On several occasions, I have been enjoying life and minding my own business while I was attacked off guard by bad breath. It just smells as if someone is cooking dog crap in 100 degree weather. My initial response is nothing, but a sheer reaction of this unlawful smell. I immediately began looking to see if I stepped in dog crap while I am saying and thinking, “What the Duck is that”! Amazingly my eyes always single out one person in a crowd. Their mouth is closed so my eyes wander to find this “Bad Breath Attacker”, but my eyes return to the first person, Suspect #1. The problem with Suspect #1 is that their mouth is closed. After arguing with my eyes, I walk closer to Suspect #1 without knowing I am putting my life in danger. I never got face to face with Suspect #1 because the smell was so bad; however, I am able to draw the conclusion that Suspect #1 with the closed mouth is the “Bad Breath Attacker”. Why should everyone be able to smell your breath with your mouth closed? With a scent that awful, Suspect #1 knew their mouth was living a sinful life. That has unquestionably taken foul to the next level, and no matter what you do, you can’t hide your breath. I personally think the bad breath got so awful it decided to find other ways of escaping the closed mouth. People with bad breath and closed mouths worldwide, STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #24: People who gift wrap cards.
The only person I know to do this is my mother, but I am sure there are more people in the world who commit this heinous crime. I do not think I alone should have to go through this, so I am writing this pet peeve to help everyone. I mean…..like…………listen………..seriously. It is a card (straight face). Cards are not meant to be gift wrapped. It comes with its own distinct packaging called, (music please) “The envelope”. I know it is the holiday season and we wrap presents, but not cards! Having to unwrap a card is a traumatic experience. So in the spirit of Christmas, STOP IT! UGH!
Pet Peeve #23: People on Section 8 who pay their rent late.
The pet peeves are global, so I am going to explain Section 8 before I describe my feelings on this pet peeve. Section 8 is a program that helps low-income families with their rent. It provides a rental voucher that will cover their entire rent or a portion. The program is for low-income families and their rent can be free or as low as $20.00 a month for housing that cost $800.00 a month. This is a great program that helps a lot of families, but I do not get how people on this program pay their rent late. The rent is structured at a price the participant can afford, so what is the problem?!? This pet peeve does not apply to everyone on Section 8, but it applies to people who have the money for rent and the people going shopping every week and paying their $8.00 a month rent late. Sad thing is that I knew someone who had Section 8 and got evicted for paying their $8.00 a month rent late. How trifling is that? You could hustle $8.00 on the streets if needed. You trying to be all “You Fancy, Huh” and you can’t pay your Section 8 rent on time. You have no excuse! In the words of Soulja Boy, “GET OUT MY FACE”! STOP IT! UGH!Thursday, December 2, 2010
Pet Peeve # 22: When people wash and reuse plastic utensils.
Plastic utensils differ from silverware, because they are disposable. Their usage is only intended to be used once and once you are done, they go in the trash. Unlike silverware, you do not need to put them in the sink or dishwasher, because they are disposable and that might explain why you can not buy one plastic fork, spoon or knife. Keyword: Disposable. I am so bothered when I see plastic utensils in the sink or dish rack. Are you serious? I have gotten into arguments with my mother, because I would throw away her reused plastic utensils. I even think people take it too far with the plastic containers they get from take-out restaurants. I will agree that some of the more sturdy higher quality containers are good to keep, but not all of them. When I see plastic utensils in the sink or dish rack I throw them away, but seeing take-out containers calls for a talk. Please, stop trying to save disposable things! STOP IT! UGH!
