Pet Peeve #15: People who keep their Christmas lights on months after Christmas.
Across the world many people celebrate Christmas on December 25. It is not precisely the exact day Christ was born, but it is the day we celebrate His birth. Christmas is considered the most wonderful time of the year; however, it is only one day. Christmas season seems to extend to attract shoppers, but it is all over after January 1. For some reason, people never let go of Christmas and keep their Christmas decorations on and up for weeks after the holiday season. I understand not taking the lights down, but keeping them on every night needs to be a city ordinance and come with a fine. It is Martin Luther King Day and your house is lit with Christmas lights. What are you celebrating? It is not cute! Public Service Announcement: You can not turn on any holiday lights after January 1. Thank-you for your cooperation in advance and STOP IT! Ugh!

You must also comment on the people who have their Christmas lights up before Thanksgiving. It's bad enough that there are no good Thanksgiving songs, but I mean give the holiday a little respect. Don't be in such a rush to string up those lights that you're gonna leave up until Memorial Day...
ReplyDeleteLol. Thanksgiving gets no play. It is like you eat like crazy so you can shop like crazy the following day. smh What ever happened to the Thanksgiving songs too?! Maybe we should write one? lol
ReplyDeleteHow about people who put their Christmas lights up way before Thanksgiving?

lol. Good one!
ReplyDeleteI do love the way Americans decorate their homes with lights during Christmas. They put in a lot of time and effort. But you are right, they should stop after the 12 days of Christmas.
ReplyDelete@Mina- I am learning that every country does not do Christmas lights. It is major here. They even have lights that play songs.
ReplyDeleteWell you do have a point but I must say that we don't put up lights anymore but we used to. We would take them off after february 2nd it was just the way we were tought
