Pet Peeve #52: Grown People who suck their thumbs.

The older I become the more I understand the world is filled with interesting people. There is not much I can say about this pet peeve. Why? Why are you an adult and you are still sucking your thumb? I think the biggest problem about this is when someone does it in public. Really though? If anyone over 10 (I am being very understanding) still sucks their thumbs or finger that is not normal. FYI-Never say anything to someone who does this because they are very defensive. Just look at them and let your facial expressions say, “STOP IT! UGH”!

Pet Peeve #38: When big people get on a crowded elevator and say, “I think I can fit”.

What is up with big people getting on crowed elevators, seeing there is no room, but saying, “I think I can fit”. The killer is when they get on and the elevator beeps because too many people are on the elevator and the person looks around as if they are not the problem. On various occasions I was close to yelling, “YOU ARE GOING TO KILL US”! Why, “BECAUSE YOU CAN’T FIT”. I have actually created a formation with my coworkers to allow us to appear bigger and take up more space to prevent people and especially big people from getting on the elevator because there is no room. Please understand I have no problem with big people. I have a problem when big people get on a crowded elevator and say, “I think I can fit”, because they can’t fit. Stay in your lane and STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #31d: Adults who argue with other people on Facebook.

Really though. Are we not adults? If you have problems with someone on Facebook, remove them from your friends list. Simple! Internet beef is so corny and immature. I don’t have much to say on this issue so please STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #31c: People who always mention their location on Facebook.

To be honest, no one cares! Do you think it is essential that everyone always needs to know your location? If so, why is it necessary? I understand mentioning it here and there with significant key locations, but no one needs to read or know your daily itinerary. How about safety? Just let the killer know where you are going or where you are currently located. How about you even let the thief know all the lovely things you are buying for your place. TMI! STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #31b: People who talk about their haters on Facebook.

Once again, this is another immature move. Must you really always discuss your haters? Internet beef though? What happened to face to face or even telephone interaction? Meet me at the park, meet me at the corner or even meet me afterschool? Since the comments are public, it is like you are trying to draw a crowd. This is Facebook and not the playground. Do not dedicate your time on Facebook to your haters. Even Jesus had haters, so I need you to please get over your haters. Personally, my haters do not even get space on Facebook because I don’t do free advertisement. Follow my approach on haters and STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #31a: People who always mention what they are doing with their relationship partner on Facebook.

This has actually bothered me for some time, and I am so glad this is pet peeve #31. While preparing to write this pet peeve, I realized I have many problems with people abusing the status box on Facebook. Unlike Myspace, once you post something on someone’s wall or in your status everyone will see it. This has become pet peeves within a pet peeve. Please, let me begin….

It truly becomes a bit much and to be quite honest, WHO CARES! I think it immediately goes from just putting it out there to people bragging. It seems so immature to always express what you are doing with your boo on Facebook. Ex. My baby took me out to the movies. My baby surprised me with lunch. I am looking at my baby. My baby is sitting next to me. Opening Christmas gifts from baby. Walking with baby. Is it not normal for you to do things with your baby? I do a lot with my fiancĂ©, but I just feel like everyone does not need to know what we are doing when we do something. The problem is not one post or picture, but posts and pictures are ridiculous. Please, spare everyone’s eyes and keep that information between you and your baby. Dropkick! STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #30: Women who do not shave their mustache.

A difference between men and women are the locations on the body where hair will and will not grow. Men tend to have hair on their face compared to women only having it on their head, along with other neutral locations. However, there are times that hair may grow on a woman’s face. That is normal; however, letting it grow into a full grown mustache is a problem. I understand there is a myth floating around that states if you pluck or cut one, hair it will grow back thicker, but it is not true. Ladies, you can not walk around looking like Cousin It is sitting on your face. Trying to talk to a woman with a mustache is worst than talking to someone with chipped nail polish. It is such a major distraction and during the conversation I am thinking, “When is this lady going to the barbershop”? Ladies, SHAVE IT OFF! If it grows back again, SHAVE IT OFF, AGAIN! STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #29: People with electric wheelchairs who ride in the driving lane.

Without question, I always have sympathy for anyone who has limited mobility. HOWEVER, that love will immediately go in the trash when I see someone with an electric wheelchair in the driving lane intended for cars. I go from 0 to 200 in half a second. Whenever I see an electric wheelchair in the driving lane, I look for a sidewalk. If there is no sidewalk, I totally understand why they are in the driving lane. BUT, if there is a perfectly clean sidewalk I am so heated. An electric wheelchair and a car are not on the same level. Ok. Few reasons why I need electric wheelchairs not to drive along with cars…

1) It is too dangerous.

2) An electric wheelchair can never maintain the speed of the flow of traffic.

3) That is so disrespectful and I feel like you are testing the gangster of every driver on the road.

Yes, share the road, but be wise how you share the road. If a car can not drive on the sidewalk, I need people operating an electric wheelchair to stay in their lane known as the sidewalk (when present) and STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #28: "Adult" couples who wear the same exact outfit.

Disclaimer: By any means I am hating by listing this as a pet peeve. I am engaged to the love of my life, and I have a wedding date, ring, a secured location and etc. I just want to put that out there. Lol

I am not sure who deemed this as cute, but why would you want to wear the same exact outfit as your mate as if you are two-year old twins. Unless it is your work uniform or you are in a choir or some specific group with the purpose of performing, do not wear the same outfit!

1) It is not necessary for everyone to identify the two of you as a couple.
2) Since we are dealing with (ideally) a man and a woman someone is going to cross the gender assigned clothing line for the sake of matching. It typically results in the woman looking like the man because she has on men’s clothing.
3) Are you serious? Really though. You are grown! I need you to stop looking like Jon & Kate Plus 8!
4) No one cares you are together.

People worldwide are throwing up because of this. Therefore, attention! Listen up! I need the ears of all couples who must dress the same head to toe. Wear the same color. You want to pick a color scheme and not dress the same. Warning! Even with a color scheme it can become a bit much. Do not overdo it, PLEASE. If that advice did not help, my final advice is simply, STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #27: When people get gastric bypass surgery, keep it a secret and ask you if they lost weight.

Gastric bypass is a surgery that makes the stomach smaller and allows food to bypass part of the small intestine (webmd.com). This is typically an option for people who are overweight. A small stomach means less food a person can eat resulting in weight loss and in most cases, dramatic weight loss. Even with the great benefits, a person can die from this procedure, so candidates are scanned carefully.

I have family members and friends who had gastric bypass, so I have no problem with this procedure. For various reasons, a few have decided to keep it a secret, which is still not a problem. However, you can not have rapid considerable weight loss, and expect no one to notice. Since it is becoming quite popular, everyone will pretty much figure out you had gastric bypass.

1) Dropping 50 pounds in one month is extremely noticeable.
2) You took an unexplainable leave of absence, and you shockingly return 6 sizes smaller.
3) STOP asking people if you lost weight as if you don’t know you lost 50 pounds.

I mean………..it is just downright annoying. We know you lost weight and had gastric bypass surgery, but out of respect, no one will mention it so please, STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #26: Dumb people who think they are smart.

People are people no matter of their status, income, location and etc. We all come from the same stuff. However, there is something about a dumb person who thinks they are smart that allows me to believe they come from another place. Dumb in this case is not lack of knowledge or doing stupid things. These types of dumb people are dumb because they think they are smart. I don’t ever get it. They say and do the craziest things, and when you do not get it, you are now the dumb person. For some reason, they have the nerve to look down on other people as if they are stupid. Really though? You just created some foolishness, and now I am slow because it makes no sense? WHATEVER! Smart people never use their knowledge to look down on others. If they do, they are not smart. Dumb people who think they are smart, STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #25: People whose breath smells so bad you can smell it while their mouth is closed.

On several occasions, I have been enjoying life and minding my own business while I was attacked off guard by bad breath. It just smells as if someone is cooking dog crap in 100 degree weather. My initial response is nothing, but a sheer reaction of this unlawful smell. I immediately began looking to see if I stepped in dog crap while I am saying and thinking, “What the Duck is that”! Amazingly my eyes always single out one person in a crowd. Their mouth is closed so my eyes wander to find this “Bad Breath Attacker”, but my eyes return to the first person, Suspect #1. The problem with Suspect #1 is that their mouth is closed. After arguing with my eyes, I walk closer to Suspect #1 without knowing I am putting my life in danger. I never got face to face with Suspect #1 because the smell was so bad; however, I am able to draw the conclusion that Suspect #1 with the closed mouth is the “Bad Breath Attacker”. Why should everyone be able to smell your breath with your mouth closed? With a scent that awful, Suspect #1 knew their mouth was living a sinful life. That has unquestionably taken foul to the next level, and no matter what you do, you can’t hide your breath. I personally think the bad breath got so awful it decided to find other ways of escaping the closed mouth. People with bad breath and closed mouths worldwide, STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #24: People who gift wrap cards.

The only person I know to do this is my mother, but I am sure there are more people in the world who commit this heinous crime. I do not think I alone should have to go through this, so I am writing this pet peeve to help everyone. I mean…..like…………listen………..seriously. It is a card (straight face). Cards are not meant to be gift wrapped. It comes with its own distinct packaging called, (music please) “The envelope”. I know it is the holiday season and we wrap presents, but not cards! Having to unwrap a card is a traumatic experience. So in the spirit of Christmas, STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #23: People on Section 8 who pay their rent late.

The pet peeves are global, so I am going to explain Section 8 before I describe my feelings on this pet peeve. Section 8 is a program that helps low-income families with their rent. It provides a rental voucher that will cover their entire rent or a portion. The program is for low-income families and their rent can be free or as low as $20.00 a month for housing that cost $800.00 a month. This is a great program that helps a lot of families, but I do not get how people on this program pay their rent late. The rent is structured at a price the participant can afford, so what is the problem?!? This pet peeve does not apply to everyone on Section 8, but it applies to people who have the money for rent and the people going shopping every week and paying their $8.00 a month rent late. Sad thing is that I knew someone who had Section 8 and got evicted for paying their $8.00 a month rent late. How trifling is that? You could hustle $8.00 on the streets if needed. You trying to be all “You Fancy, Huh” and you can’t pay your Section 8 rent on time. You have no excuse! In the words of Soulja Boy, “GET OUT MY FACE”! STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve # 22: When people wash and reuse plastic utensils.

Plastic utensils differ from silverware, because they are disposable. Their usage is only intended to be used once and once you are done, they go in the trash. Unlike silverware, you do not need to put them in the sink or dishwasher, because they are disposable and that might explain why you can not buy one plastic fork, spoon or knife. Keyword: Disposable. I am so bothered when I see plastic utensils in the sink or dish rack. Are you serious? I have gotten into arguments with my mother, because I would throw away her reused plastic utensils. I even think people take it too far with the plastic containers they get from take-out restaurants. I will agree that some of the more sturdy higher quality containers are good to keep, but not all of them. When I see plastic utensils in the sink or dish rack I throw them away, but seeing take-out containers calls for a talk. Please, stop trying to save disposable things! STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #20: People who wear white sweat socks with black dress shoes.

I think no matter of your location we all can agree that black shoes and white sweat socks only worked well for Michael Jackson. The shiny black shoes and white sweat socks that sparkled were appropriate for his dance moves. His shoes were always the focal point of his performances. Warning: If you wear white sweat socks with black dress shoes, they will become your focal point, as well. What am I saying? DO NOT WEAR white sweat socks with black dress shoes. You are not Michael Jackson, and it does not work well for anyone else. I know a lot of people are thinking, “I am wearing pants so no one will be able to see my socks”. Right? NO, WRONG!!!!! When white sweat socks and black shoes get together, the pants without warning will begin to rise and reveal the white sweat socks. It happens all the time. It is close to a scientific fact. You can buy black socks from the dollar store, so there is really no excuse. STOP IT! Ugh!

Pet Peeve #18: People who are in denial about their size and wear tight clothing.

Through out the years, I have experienced weight gain and loss. With either side of the coin, I have learned all the tricks of wearing clothing that is too small or too big. However, I am no magician, so I understand I can only hide this problem temporarily and only with certain clothing. Keywords: No Magician, Temporarily and Certain Clothing. I just feel as those are certain words people who are gaining weight should consider every time they get dressed. I am so perturbed when I see people who are gaining weight or just people who wear small clothing.

1) It looks so uncomfortable.
2) It is not safe.
3) You are showing more than people want to see.
4) You are killing that poor fabric.

I can just hear the cotton say, “I can’t work under these conditions”! I am not talking about one size too small, but two or more sizes too tight. I encourage everyone to look in the mirror and make an honest assessment. I predict that a few people reading this blog will realize that it is time to buy new clothing that fits. I make a plea to the world to please not squeeze your body into tight clothing. You must STOP IT! Ugh!

Pet Peeve #15: People who keep their Christmas lights on months after Christmas.

Across the world many people celebrate Christmas on December 25. It is not precisely the exact day Christ was born, but it is the day we celebrate His birth. Christmas is considered the most wonderful time of the year; however, it is only one day. Christmas season seems to extend to attract shoppers, but it is all over after January 1. For some reason, people never let go of Christmas and keep their Christmas decorations on and up for weeks after the holiday season. I understand not taking the lights down, but keeping them on every night needs to be a city ordinance and come with a fine. It is Martin Luther King Day and your house is lit with Christmas lights. What are you celebrating? It is not cute! Public Service Announcement: You can not turn on any holiday lights after January 1. Thank-you for your cooperation in advance and STOP IT! Ugh!

Pet Peeve #14: Text message forwards.

Unless it is a public service announcement, text message forwards are sooooooooooooooooo pointless. People do not even like email forwards so the need of text message forwards is ridiculous. Some people do not even have an unlimited text message plan, and they are wasted on these stupid forwards. I have unlimited text messaging, but I do not need chain letters sent via text message. STOP IT! Ugh!

Pet Peeve #13: People who get on the bus with large boxes.

Public transportation is a terrific way to help people reach their destinations along with helping protect the planet by reducing emissions. It helps you reach your destination. People take advantage of the system and act as if public transportation is private transportation. Why would you get on the bus with a large box? Where are you going to put this large box? In the aisle, or on the seat (s)? Either way normal people like me are standing because you are on the bus with this crazy large box. Then they always have the courage to get an attitude if someone hits the box by mistake. Are you serious? Go somewhere with that and STOP IT! Ugh!
