Really though? You saw me coming, and you let the door close in my face. It is so rude knowing people are coming, and you let the door close in their face. UGH! If the doors are glass I just stand there with a blank look on my face that says, “Don’t let me catch you on the streets”. To be honest, I rather ride in the elevator alone. It is not my elevator but my personal preference. However, I know if I make eye contact with anyone trying to get the elevator I must try my best to hold the door for them. It is common courtesy. There have been occasions when I have hit the close door button 1,000 times, but no eye contact was ever made. That is the key. You can only be rude or selfish if you did not make any eye contact. So simple. If you are making contact and still letting the door close in people faces, STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #38: When big people get on a crowded elevator and say, “I think I can fit”.
What is up with big people getting on crowed elevators, seeing there is no room, but saying, “I think I can fit”. The killer is when they get on and the elevator beeps because too many people are on the elevator and the person looks around as if they are not the problem. On various occasions I was close to yelling, “YOU ARE GOING TO KILL US ”! Why, “BECAUSE YOU CAN’T FIT”. I have actually created a formation with my coworkers to allow us to appear bigger and take up more space to prevent people and especially big people from getting on the elevator because there is no room. Please understand I have no problem with big people. I have a problem when big people get on a crowded elevator and say, “I think I can fit”, because they can’t fit. Stay in your lane and STOP IT! UGH!

Pet Peeve #3: Competent people who take the elevator to the next floor.
I understand a lot of situations may cause someone to take the elevator to the next floor; however, my problem is not with those people. My building at work has the unfortunate mishap of having fire drills because someone has burned popcorn. Yes, burnt popcorn will cause two 22 and 15 story buildings to evacuate. We spend 15 minutes in the stairway trying to escape, 10 minutes standing outside with sore legs and 20 minutes waiting for the elevator to return to work. Without fail, while waiting for the elevator, I hear someone complaining extremely loudly about the situation. They are upset about the burnt popcorn, the trip down the stairs, and now, the long wait for the elevator. I get on the elevator, and the people push their floor, and this same person who was complaining pushes the number 2. OMG! You are going to the second floor. You waited in line for almost 30 minutes to avoid 1 flight of stairs. Everyone in the elevator is sooooooooooo heated and once they get off someone will say, “They could have taken the stairs”. People who are perfectly able to go up one flight of stairs do this all over in America. STOP IT! Ugh!
