Pet Peeves #21: People who cause delays at public transportation turnstiles.

When I am getting ready for work in the morning, I am on the move. There is no time for foolishness or slow people with slow actions. I know what time I should be out of the shower, time I am done getting dressed and eating my breakfast along with the time I should get in my car. Everything is perfectly timed, and a one minute delay can throw off the whole morning. Needless to say, when it is time for me to get on the El (subway) time is of the essence, and there is no time for games. HOWEVER, I do not understand when I usually approach the turnstile to deposit my token the person in front of me causes a delay. This mainly happens once the El (subway) has pulled up and I know I have to run up the stairs. I am thinking, “WTDuck! You are going to make me miss the El”. I want people to have the token in their hand before they reach the turnstile. Who has time to stand behind a person who needs to find their token? I think the worst is when people just stop to have a conversation with someone else. I have to be at work, and I need someone to respect my time and GET OUT OF MY WAY! The more I think about this there needs to be a new law allowing passengers to throw people who cause delays at the turnstiles and one drop kick if the El (subway) just pulled up. STOP IT! Ugh!

  1. No offense, but wouldn't it be easier to just leave the house 15 minutes earlier every morning than to get angry with an innocent person who is not in a hurry? It would save you the stress of being late for work, while also making room for other possible delays. But still, an excellent post, as always. Just my thoughts. :D

  2. Well thank-you anonymous. Actually I was early for work; however I still did not want to miss the El, especially since it just pulled up. I think the morning rush is all about routines. Everyone has a routine and prefers not to deviate from the morning hustle.
